Since the pad doesn't exactly have the same contour. A bench grinder was used to remove some of the butt stock. Like I said, I'm not a carpenter, but it's notched none the less. I would much rather weld and grind than play with wood.
The lower butt plate screw hole was filled with toothpicks and wood glue. Then ground down slightly below the wood surface. These photos show after the fiberglass was put on the butt stock. The butt stock pad was wrapped in saran wrap and packaging tape. We didn't use any type of release agent. Just waited a few minutes until fiberglass was tacky and stiffening up, then removed the pad.
