Mosin Nagant M44 Sporter Page 11
Well, the project has finally come to an end. I did locate a front sight for the M44, from another collector. I cold blued all the metal after first baking the metal in an oven at around 275 degrees. However, due to the mosin metal, I think I will try an epoxy bake on finish after removing the blue. I'm just not happy with the bluing, but it's good enough. After completed, this rifle is a real tack driver. It ironically turned out to be the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. It performs far better than I could have hoped or ever expected. I'll have to find my targets for it and post them here.
I am in the process of doing a stock for a Japanese Arisaka T-99 and a Turk 03/38, that were both butchered by their previous owners. I'll place those pictures on page 12 for now, until I get around making their webpages and completing them. If I decide to redo the metal on this M44, I will post them here as well. The project definitely was fun for me and my son and can't wait to finish the next two.
